Hoverboards now on Dangerous Goods List

With the upcoming holiday season, airlines are reminding travellers to check the permitted list of carry-on and checked-in items for safe and undisrupted travel.

For the safety of all travellers, spare lithium batteries used for electronic devices such as cameras, mobile phones and laptops are not permitted in checked-in baggage.

A popular item containing lithium batteries is the smart balance wheels, also know as ‘hoverboards’.¬†With immediate effect, airlines prohibit all smart balance wheels – with or without lithium batteries removed – from checked-in or hand luggage.
