Digi will be have iPhone soon as announced in a press release this morning. DiGi and Apple have reached an agreement to bring iPhone in the coming months. More details on the launch date and packages will be provided soon.

Looks like it’s time for Maxis to wake up as they will no longer be the iPhone monopoly. It’s also time for them to buck up on their services, expensive packages and constant 3G network issues.

Maybe it’s really time to change!

In 1930, an Australian taxi driver Charlie Heard accepted a most unusual request from an elderly spinster and her two companions. His mission was to drive them from Melbourne to Darwin and back. He was paid £300 or about AUD$19,000 at today’s rate.

Social media is interesting and powerful yet there are many loopholes when it comes to privacy. Did you know that posting about where are can lead to your home getting robbed?

One example is Foursquare. You can use it to check-in to the places and discover tips from users which is fantastic. Now here’s the flaw, Foursquare has the ability to link to Twitter and publish a tweet on where you have checked-in together with a Foursquare url. Now using Twitter, search “4sq” and you will get a list of Foursquare tweets. Someone has now brought it a step further and created a site www.pleaserobme.com . Here you can find which homes are empty because of this flaw. If you are using Foursquare, I strongly advise that you de-link it with Twitter.

Sports brand Puma is coming out with their own Puma Phone, manufactured by Sagem. The phone will be released in Europe on Easter weekend (03 April). What’s different about this touchscreen phone for the others, is the integrated solar panel located on the back of the phone. While the solar panels adds a touch of sleekness to the phone, they are only able to generate enough power for 15 minutes of talk-time or two hours of music playing for each hour under the sun. Clearly, it is not able to replace the normal phone charger but can be quite useful during emergencies.

Not sure if this phone will reach Malaysia shores as Sagem phones are no longer popular in Malaysia.

The hype about the Apple Tablet has been going on for weeks. Many stayed up last night to watch the Apple Keynote and it has finally been revealed, the Apple Tablet is officially named iPad. At a quick glance, the iPad looks like a bigger version of the iPhone. The layout, the software are similar to the iPhone.

What’s exciting about the iPad is the ability to use iWorks. I love iWorks. Simple to use and can create really stunning presentations and documents. However, the downside, the iPad does not have the ports to easily connect the unit to an external source like an LCD projector. It’s like it’s almost there but not there yet.

The iBooks section is an interesting addition. Note, it can be a bit confusing as Apple use the termd iBook for their lower category of notebooks until a few years ago and iBooks refers to e-books. Reading an e-book will be easier on the eye due to the screen size as compared to the iPhone.

Lastly comes the price, which has been published on the Apple website. The cheapest 3G + Wifi model is priced at US$629, which is approx RM2200. But knowing the pricing for outside US will be much higher. They will definately face tough competiton from the netbook segment which is currently very aggresive. The new netbooks are now coming with longer battery life, webcam (not available on the iPad), better graphic card, better processors, a keyboard (the iPad is touchscreen) and most important a much more reasonable price tag!

I was making tong sui (means dessert in Cantonese but if it’s translated directly, it means ’sugar water’) two days ago. I keep my sugar and salt in the fridge and they are next to each other. Somehow I think I was dreaming and I accidentally put salt instead of sugar into the dessert! I had no choice but to pour the dessert down the drain. Sigh…

BodyCombat 42 – Class

Last night I had a bad cinema experience. I was sitting next to a couple with absolutely no cinema etiquette.

The wife entered the cinema first and sat next to me. After a short while, she started coughing and coughing. Sorry to say this but people who are ill should stay at home plus H1N1 is still around.

When the movie started couple of minutes, the husband came in and he started asking the wife what did he miss and they started talking. I was rather pissed and looked at them. The husband saw that I was looking but he did not bother and carried on talking. In fact, they continued talking through out the whole movie! If they want to talk, they should just buy the DVD when it’s out and they can talk all they want at home.

To make matters worse, half way through the movie, the wife opened a styrofoam box that the husband packed earlier and the place started to smell quite bad. She was not bothered and started eating. I strongly feel that smelly food should never be allowed in the cinema.

I’ve been to the cinema many times but this has to be one of the worst experience.
