From my flying experience, I don't think AirAsia X would be better than MAS. I've just flown back from Melbourne with MAS. It's well worth it.. The service was really great. But I agree with Eugene that it’s good that travellers will now have a choice to another destination.

Weeshiong - sad but true, these days the cost of the taxes, fuel surcharge and admin fees are higher than the cost of the ticket. :(

Checked the prices. Tickets are cheap but after taxes, fuel surcharge, etc. still come up to RM1500++ for a return which i suppose is still cheaper than MAS but is still a big lump of money for me. Especially since that's about how much I used to pay for my open return tickets (which, admittedly, was yonks ago)

I believe AirAsia X targets the budget conscious traveller. It's good that travellers will now have a choice.

Somehow I still prefer MAS even though they are unbelievably expensive and not worth it.
